What to prepare before requesting a migration โ
- Order your Cloud Cube first โ we need an active destination server before we can start. Order at remarkablecloud.com/products/cloudcubes.
- Gather your current server credentials โ root SSH access or WHM/DirectAdmin/Plesk admin access to the source server. We need read access to copy your data.
- Note your current DNS TTL โ lower it to 300 seconds (5 minutes) 24 hours before the migration. This minimizes DNS propagation time during the cutover.
- Identify any custom configurations โ non-standard cron jobs, custom Apache/Nginx configs, firewall rules, or third-party integrations that might need manual attention.
How to request your migration โ
- Log into the client area at manager.remarkablecloud.com
- Go to Support โ Open New Ticket
- Select department: Technical Support
- Subject:
Migration Request โ [your domain or server name] - Include: your source server IP, access credentials, and your new Cloud Cube's IP
Our team will contact you to schedule the migration.
What happens during the migration โ
- Initial copy โ we copy all data from your old server to the new one. Your old server keeps running โ nothing is disrupted
- Verification โ we verify all sites, databases, and email are working correctly on the new server
- DNS cutover โ we update your DNS to point at the new server (or guide you through it if DNS is managed externally)
- Final sync โ any changes made on the old server during the migration are synced to the new one
- Confirmation โ we confirm everything is working before considering the migration complete
After the migration โ
Once DNS has propagated to the new server:
- Test thoroughly โ check all websites, email sending and receiving, database connections, and any custom scripts
- Keep the old server running for 48โ72 hours as a safety net while DNS fully propagates
- Cancel the old server once you're confident everything is working on the new one
- Update any hardcoded IPs in your applications, firewall rules, or third-party service whitelists
Migrating specific platforms โ
cPanel to cPanel โ
The fastest migration type. We use WHM's built-in transfer tool for a complete 1:1 copy including all account settings, packages, and reseller configurations.
Any panel to RemarkablePanel โ
We migrate files and databases. Email is re-provisioned on the new panel. A brief email re-configuration period is normal.
WordPress migration โ
We migrate the database and files, then update wp-config.php with the new database credentials. No WordPress reconfiguration needed.
Custom Linux server โ
We copy files via rsync, export and import databases manually, and replicate your service configuration. More planning required โ discuss specifics in your support ticket.
