Backup types

Type	What it includes
Full backup	All subscriptions, databases, mail, DNS, Plesk settings
Subscription backup	One domain: files, database, email
Database backup	Single database dump

Creating a manual backup

Full server backup

1. Tools & Settings → Backup Manager → Back Up
2. Select Full backup type
3. Choose destination (local or FTP/SFTP/S3)
4. Click Back Up

Subscription (domain) backup

1. Open the subscription → Backup Manager → Back Up
2. Select what to include: Domain, Mail, Databases, Files
3. Click Back Up

Scheduling automated backups

1. Go to Tools & Settings → Backup Manager → Scheduled Backup Settings.
2. Enable Activate this backup task.
3. Set frequency: daily, weekly, or monthly.
4. Set the time and day.
5. Choose destination: local storage, FTP, or SFTP.
6. Set how many backups to keep (retention).
7. Click OK.

JetBackup also runs on your server: RemarkableCloud runs JetBackup alongside Plesk’s own backup system. JetBackup provides an additional layer of automated S3 backups. See the JetBackup guide.

Restoring from backup

Restore a full backup

1. Tools & Settings → Backup Manager
2. Select the backup file from the list
3. Click Restore
4. Choose what to restore
5. Confirm

Restore a subscription backup

1. Open the subscription → Backup Manager
2. Select the backup
3. Click Restore
4. Choose components: files, databases, mail
5. Confirm

Restore to a different domain

Plesk allows restoring a backup to a different domain name:

1. Backup Manager → Restore
2. Check Restore with different domain name
3. Enter the new domain name
4. Complete the restore

Remote backup destinations

Configure S3

1. Tools & Settings → Remote Storage Settings
2. Select Amazon S3 or Custom S3
3. Enter endpoint, access key, secret key, and bucket name
4. Save and test connection

Configure SFTP

1. Remote Storage Settings → FTP/SFTP
2. Enter server, port, username, password, and path
3. Save
