Apps / Moodle

Managed Moodle hosting.
One server, no app limits.

The open-source LMS. Course backups ride the same dual offsite backup stack as everything else.

What it is

Moodle is the standard open-source learning management system: courses, quizzes, grading, and every student interaction logged. Schools and training companies run on it, and it works the server hard.

Minimum RAM

2 GB

Fits on SC-2GB; SC-4GB is the comfortable pick with room to stack.

What we install

The playbook deploys the current Moodle on PHP 8.x with the required extensions, a tuned MariaDB, HTTPS forced, the Moodle cron running every minute as it requires, and Redis wired as the application cache when selected.

What managed covers

PHP, database, and server updates; daily snapshots plus dual offsite backups of courses and student data; monitoring through enrollment spikes; the managed firewall and mail delivery for the notifications students actually need to receive.

The app is $0. The managed server is the only bill, and everything above is part of it.

What does managed Moodle hosting include?

A Moodle installed to the project's own checklist, cron and all, plus operations: tuning, SSL, backups covering coursework, monitoring, and mail that reaches students. Moodle punishes neglected servers with slow quizzes; ours are not neglected.

Why is Moodle demanding to host?

Because everything is dynamic and logged. Fifty students submitting a quiz at the same minute is a database event, not a caching event, which is why our playbook tunes MariaDB for it and wires Redis for the caches Moodle can offload. Enrollment day is a spike we monitor for.

Can Moodle share a server with other apps?

Yes. Redis is practically mandatory and it is $0 in the catalog, Uptime Kuma watches availability from the inside, and a BookStack next to it makes a tidy staff handbook. Same server, same bill.

Will you migrate my Moodle?

Yes, free, including moodledata. We move the code, database, and file store, run the upgrade path if versions differ, and you verify courses and grades before DNS moves, scheduled between terms if you want.

Stack it

Moodle runs well with.

Same server, no extra bill. These are the companions our team installs next to Moodle most often.

Redis

+1 GB

In-memory cache and queue. The cheapest speed upgrade most stacks never install. Pairs with everything.

Uptime Kuma

+1 GB

The self-hosted uptime monitor everyone loves. Watch your sites from your own server.

BookStack

+1 GB

Simple, organized documentation and wikis for teams.

Frequently asked questions

How much RAM does Moodle need?

2 GB is the floor for a small site. Plan roughly by concurrent users: a few hundred active students want 4 to 8 GB with Redis. The sizing calculator will place your enrollment.

Is the Moodle cron handled?

Yes, configured as a real system cron on the schedule Moodle requires, and monitored: a stalled cron is an alert on our side, not a mystery on yours.

Where does student data live?

On your server, backed up to two offsite destinations daily. Nothing about your students transits a third-party LMS cloud.
