Apps / BookStack

Managed BookStack hosting.
One server, no app limits.

Simple, organized documentation and wikis for teams.

What it is

BookStack is the wiki people actually keep updated: pages organized into books and shelves, a WYSIWYG editor, and permissions simple enough that documentation stops being one person's job.

Minimum RAM

1 GB

Fits on SC-1GB; SC-2GB is the comfortable pick with room to stack.

What we install

The playbook deploys the current BookStack on PHP with a tuned MariaDB, HTTPS forced, mail configured through the managed gateway for invites and resets, and authentication ready for your team, local accounts or your identity provider.

What managed covers

PHP, database, and server updates; daily snapshots and dual offsite backups of every page and revision; monitoring, the managed firewall, and working email. Your documentation stays yours, on hardware that is not shared with strangers.

The app is $0. The managed server is the only bill, and everything above is part of it.

What does managed BookStack hosting include?

The install, the database, SSL, backups of every revision, monitoring, and mail for account flows, all inside the one server price. Internal documentation is exactly the thing you want on infrastructure someone maintains.

Why self-host documentation at all?

Because your runbooks, credentials procedures, and client notes are the last data that belongs on a third-party wiki's servers under a third-party wiki's terms. Self-hosted BookStack keeps it on your server, behind your access rules, backed up to destinations you can name.

Can BookStack share a server with other apps?

Yes, and it is a natural sidecar: a Gitea for the code and a BookStack for the docs on the same managed server is a complete internal platform for a small team, at the price of one server.

Will you migrate an existing wiki?

Yes, free. Existing BookStack instances move directly with attachments and revisions. Coming from another wiki, we set up BookStack and help with the import path rather than leaving you to copy-paste.

Stack it

Frequently asked questions

How much RAM does BookStack need?

1 GB covers BookStack and its database for most teams. It is one of the lightest apps in the catalog, which makes it an easy stack addition.

Can we restrict who reads what?

Yes, BookStack's roles and shelf, book, and page permissions handle it, and for network-level privacy a WireGuard from the catalog can put the whole wiki behind a VPN.

Does email work for invites?

Yes, out of the box: the install sends through the managed MailChannels gateway, so invites and password resets deliver.
