Apps / Gitea
Managed Gitea hosting.
One server, no app limits.
Lightweight self-hosted Git with issues, actions, and packages. Your code on your server.
What it is
Gitea is self-hosted Git that stays light: repositories, pull requests, issues, and CI through Gitea Actions, in a single fast binary instead of a fleet of services.
Minimum RAM
1 GB
Fits on SC-1GB; SC-2GB is the comfortable pick with room to stack.
What we install
The playbook deploys the current Gitea with a tuned MariaDB or PostgreSQL, SSH cloning on its own port, HTTPS forced on the web UI, mail through the managed gateway for notifications, and scheduled repository garbage collection.
What managed covers
App platform, database, and server updates; daily snapshots plus dual offsite backups of every repository; monitoring, the managed firewall, and deliverable email. Your code never leaves hardware with your name on it.
The app is $0. The managed server is the only bill, and everything above is part of it.
What does managed Gitea hosting include?
A production Gitea with database, SSH access, SSL, backed-up repositories, monitoring, and working notification mail, at the price of the server alone. Private repos without per-seat pricing, on infrastructure someone maintains.
Why self-host Git at all?
Client code under NDA, unlimited private repositories without per-user fees, and CI minutes that are just your own CPU. For agencies and small teams the math is simple: one managed server replaces a per-seat SaaS bill and keeps the code in your custody.
Does Gitea Actions work here?
Yes. Gitea Actions runs your CI with GitHub-Actions-compatible workflows, and the runner executes on your own server, so pipeline minutes are free and private. Heavier pipelines just mean picking a bigger plan, not buying minutes.
Can Gitea share a server with other apps?
Naturally. Code Server next to it gives the team a browser IDE against the same repos, Uptime Kuma watches it all, and a BookStack holds the docs. A complete private dev platform, one bill.

Frequently asked questions
How much RAM does Gitea need?
1 GB runs Gitea with its database for a small team. Active CI through Actions or large mono-repos push you toward 2 to 4 GB.
Can we migrate from GitHub or GitLab?
Yes. Gitea's built-in migrator pulls repositories, issues, and releases, and we run the migration as part of onboarding, free.
Is SSH cloning available?
Yes, on a dedicated port behind the managed firewall, with the web UI on HTTPS. Deploy keys and per-repo access work as you would expect.

Shared CPU servers
The right home for Gitea and most stacks: 3.0+ GHz vCPU, from $10/mo.
