Still unsure? Start Shared. If you outgrow it, we move you to Dedicated: painless and without downtime.
Self-managed, honestly
The bare price. Nothing padded.
Nothing hidden either.
The price is the server: non-oversold cores, NVMe, the network firewall with IDS, and free daily snapshots. Proactive monitoring, centralized logs, and hands-on management are not included, and are not silently billed either; they live in the Fully Managed addon, one checkbox away.
The your-rules approach
You know the list: kernels, packages, firewall rules, backup tests. On this page, that list is yours on purpose, and choosing it is the whole point. We keep the iron, the network, and the snapshots healthy.
When something needs doing on your server, the default is that we do it. Patches are scheduled and applied by us. Backups run, get verified weekly, and restore with a human on the line. If mail has a problem, it is our problem. If you outgrow your plan, we move you. If you come from another host, we carry everything over, painless and without downtime.
You will notice the difference by what stops happening: no maintenance weekends, no ticket ping-pong, no learning curve you did not ask for. The server becomes a utility. You get your time back.
15 Self-Managed plans. Two CPU families.
Everything else is identical. The only question is how you use CPU.

How it works
Six systems working so you do not.
Every managed server runs the same stack underneath. Pick a system to see what it actually does.
Issues end before you hear about them.
Every minute, we check more than 200 parameters of your server and its services: web server, database, mail, disk, memory, and the network path to it. The moment anything drifts out of range, our support staff is alerted, investigates, and fixes it.
This is internal monitoring, deeper than any public uptime check: it watches the inside of your server, not just whether it answers. Most incidents are found and fixed by our staff before anyone outside ever notices them.
- 200+ parameters checked every minute
- Alerts reach engineers, not ticket queues
- Inside-the-server checks, not just ping
- Humans respond in minutes, any hour
Operating systems
Your OS, installed clean. Then yours.
Pick it at checkout. We install it, harden it, and keep it updated for as long as the server runs.
The default for modern applications.
The largest community, the most tutorials, and first-class support from nearly every tool and framework. When in doubt, Ubuntu is the safe answer, which is exactly why it is our most deployed OS.
Best for
Supported versions
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
LTS releases only, five years of updates each.

Self-managed does not mean alone.
We run the platform. What runs on it is entirely your call.
Your operating system
Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, CloudLinux, or Windows Server 2025, installed clean. From first boot, the OS answers to you.
Root, without asterisks
Your kernel, your packages, your firewall rules inside the box. We never reach into your server uninvited.
KVM on enterprise hardware
True hardware isolation on enterprise dedicated servers in US data centers. Non-oversold, 100% NVMe, +3.00 GHz cores.
Edge protection included
The network firewall with IDS and DDoS protection sit in front of your server at no charge. What runs behind them is your call.
Snapshots, free, daily
Every server gets automatic daily snapshots at no cost. Dual offsite PBS backups are one optional checkbox on top.
Management, if you ever want it
Add Fully Managed ($20/mo) from the cart or the client area later: monitoring, centralized logs, updates, and our pager. Same server, no migration.
What customers say
More reviews: Trustpilot“The server is not only fast but also incredibly stable. I haven't experienced any downtime in almost two years.”
“They migrate my cPanel VPS to a DirectAdmin VPS without noticeable downtime.”
“It's rare to find a hosting company that cares this much about its customers.”
Everything is part of the price.
Most of these are paid add-ons at other hosts. Here they are included with every plan, at one price.
No management tiers. No feature gates. Every plan gets everything.
FAQ
Self-Managed VPS,
answered.
The questions people ask before ordering. Anything else, ask a human, we answer in minutes.
What is a VPS?
A VPS (virtual private server) is your own private slice of a physical server, with dedicated CPU, RAM, and disk, and full control of its operating system. A hypervisor divides one powerful machine into several isolated servers, so you get the control of a dedicated server at a fraction of its cost.
What exactly does Self-Managed include?
The server itself on non-oversold enterprise hardware, full root access, your choice of OS installed clean, one IPv4, the network firewall with IDS at the edge, DDoS protection, free daily snapshots, and the 500% SLA on infrastructure uptime. Not included: proactive monitoring, centralized logs, and hands-on management, which live in the Fully Managed addon.
What is my job on a self-managed server?
Everything inside the OS: updates and patching, in-server firewall rules, application security, backup testing beyond the included snapshots, and fixing what breaks at the software level. If that list reads like freedom, this page is for you; if it reads like a burden, the managed page is one click away.
Can I add management or backups later?
Yes, both, anytime, from the cart at order time or from your client area afterward. Fully Managed is $20/mo ($200/yr) and Dual Backups is 20% of your base server. Same server, no migration, no tier change; they are checkboxes, not commitments.
What is the difference between managed and unmanaged VPS?
With an unmanaged VPS you rent the hardware and do everything else yourself: patching, firewall rules, backups, mail deliverability, and the 2 AM incidents. With a managed VPS the provider does that work for you. Unmanaged costs less per month; the difference is paid in your hours. Here you can start on either side and switch with a checkbox.
What types of virtualization are there?
The two you will meet most are containers (LXC) and full virtualization (KVM). LXC containers share the host kernel: light and fast, but less isolated, and they cannot run their own kernel or Windows. KVM gives every server its own virtual hardware and kernel: true isolation, any operating system, and resources that behave like a real machine. Container-based plans are also the easiest to oversell.
What virtualization does RemarkableCloud use?
KVM, exclusively. Every server is a full virtual machine with hardware-level isolation: your own kernel, any OS including Windows Server, and resources that exist physically, because we never sell the same resource twice.
Which hypervisor does RemarkableCloud use?
Proxmox VE, the open-source enterprise virtualization platform, running KVM virtual machines. It is the same stack behind the free daily snapshots and the optional Proxmox Backup Server integration: battle-tested, auditable, and free of per-VM licensing costs that other stacks pass on to you.
Which operating systems can I run?
Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, CloudLinux, and Windows Server 2025, installed clean at provisioning. After first boot the OS is yours: you update it, you configure it, you own it.
Can I run a control panel?
Any panel you like: install RemarkablePanel, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, Webuzo, or any of the open-source panels from our 49-app marketplace. Where a commercial license applies it bills at its standard price.
Can I run Docker?
Yes. Every server is a full KVM virtual machine with root access and its own kernel, so Docker, Podman, and any container tooling run natively. Panels like Dokploy and Coolify install in one click from the marketplace.
What is the difference between Shared CPU and Dedicated CPU?
Both run +3.00 GHz cores on the same hardware. Shared CPU gives excellent value for workloads with variable traffic. Dedicated CPU reserves every core for you, for checkouts, databases, and sustained loads that can never slow down.
Do the free daily snapshots replace backups?
They are a strong first layer, but they live on the same platform as your server. The Dual Backups addon (20% of your base) adds offsite PBS copies, restorable from the client area, for the failure modes snapshots cannot cover. Honest answer: production data deserves the addon.
What happens when I outgrow my plan?
Resizes are available on request from the client area, within your family or from Shared CPU to Dedicated CPU. Your data stays in place; the resources grow around it.
What happens when I cancel?
You can cancel anytime from your client area. Monthly billing means there is no lock-in, every plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can take your data with you before the term ends. Hosting should be a service you choose to stay with, not one you are stuck in.
Where are your servers located?
On enterprise dedicated infrastructure in US data centers, 100% NVMe and never oversold. The network in front of them carries the DDoS protection and the firewall with IDS included on every server.
How does the 500% SLA work here?
The same as everywhere at RemarkableCloud: one hour of infrastructure downtime credits five hours back, automatically, from the first minute. It applies to the iron and the network regardless of who manages the OS.
Your server runs. You sleep.
Fully managed hosting from people who have been doing this since 2001.
